Betty Dorotik – President

I was invited to hold a position on the CAA Board and be a voice of information about the previous years of CAA….what has worked, what has not. I have been a member of CAA since almost the beginning. I have served 2 terms as President in the past and appreciate anyone who has held an office. It is a wonderful opportunity to contribute and every member should consider it. The previous Board has accomplished so many things. Our logo was changed to be more noticeable and recognizable; our bookkeeping was switched to Quickbooks, simplifying many tasks of the Treasurer. Our current Secretary uses AI to record our Board meetings and produce excellent minutes. Meetings are the 3rd Monday of the month usually at Camano Center. Any one may come to a Board meeting to observe or ask questions. I’ll be there.

Joan Schrammeck – Treasurer

I love how the Studio Tour brings people together, showcases art and nature, and creates a local buzz of excitement. I moved to Camano in 2001 and met many local artists. When I was asked to help write grants to fund the Tour, I realized it was a skill I could contribute (I am not an artist). After a lifetime of working in nonprofit organizations, I recently retired. I don’t bring the financial skills or knowledge to the position of Treasurer that Cheri Kiefer has, but I do understand the rigors of nonprofit books. That said, if YOU have accounting and bookkeeping talent, please don’t hesitate to step forward to help me with the work ahead.

Julie Conzelmann – Secretary

In 2013, my husband and I moved to Camano Island, sparking my return to art through wildlife photography. In 2017, I received a paint-by-number piece, “Hunting Dog,” that I painted for my grandma in 1970, which inspired me to paint again. After a friend commissioned portraits of her pets, I converted a spare room into an art studio. My medium is mixed media, using acrylic paint and crafting items for texture. Recently, I semi-retired from copyediting to engage with the local arts community by joining the CAA. In June 2026, I volunteered for the CAA Board as Secretary, hoping to support fellow artists and the organization by drawing on my nonprofit, corporate, and educational experience.

Katie Trent – Director

I recently moved back to the PNW after 40+ years in Minnesota. I was an active member of the Arts Consortium of Carter County, and organization with a mission to promote artists and the arts in that area. I learned about CAA and decided to join in order to meet other artists and establish myself in the arts community. I served on the ACCC board in several capacities and believe my experience and “fresh” eyes may be useful to this group. I am a glass artist, creating everything from mosaics to custom stained glass windows to fused pieces. I also teach at the Jansen Art Center in Lynden and my home studio in Mount Vernon.
