Kim Slater is an artist, writer, and teacher who has been working in the greater Seattle/Bellevue area for the past 10 years. As an artist and art teacher, she works in a wide variety of media but specializes in acrylic painting. She believes in using art as a vehicle to both explore and inspire a combination of curiosity/wonder and inner peace. Nature and mythology are among the top inspirations for her artwork. Her experience living in Ireland from 2007 – 2009 led to a fascination with Celtic knots and the meditative way the eye follows the line of the knot weaving in and out around itself. Several of her works focus on the contrast of the geometric patterns of Celtic knots with more organic and chaotic elements of nature, finding harmony between the two. When she’s not painting or teaching, she can be found writing stories, reading, or wandering through the woods.
