Bouttè is a blown-glass artist, and a graduate of Penland School of Crafts at the Louisiana State University and the Pilchuck Glass School. His work is shown in various galleries across the nation and in collections worldwide.

He has blown glass at the International Glass Museum in Ebeltoft, Denmark, and has maintained a glass studio on Camano Island in Washington state since 1996.
