Materials for Art Program – MAP

MAP  provides supplementary art supplies and equipment to visual art classrooms at Stanwood Middle and High School. CAA strongly believes that students deserve both quantity and quality of art supplies to give them every opportunity to be creative during the school year.

In late April through end of May, including during the Camano Island Studio Tour, student work is celebrated in the Student Art Show at CAA’s Gateway Gallery.  The students are given their own Artists’ Reception, and a certificate of participation. 2025 marked the first annual show which had a write up in the Stanwood Camano News and was thoroughly enjoyed by Studio Tour visitors.  Students took great pride, many coming to the gallery multiple times to show off their work to friends and family.

BOTH Art and a STEM education are essential in our young people’s education. Art creates meaning and application for the Sciences, while Art creates greater problem-solving skills toward the Sciences.

Another hope is to increase the number of students choosing visual arts as a possible career path, and to increase the number of qualified students applying for CAA scholarships.  Through the Stanwood Camano Scholarship Program  CAA gives $1000-$3000 in scholarships annually to graduating Seniors living in the Stanwood-Camano School District.
