2027 Artist Terms and Conditions

All participating Studio Tour Artists and Galleries agree to the following terms and conditions which have expectations of conduct and activity in advance of, during, and after the Studio Tour. The Tour is a true community affair: our actions benefit ourselves, our fellow CAA members, and our greater and extended communities. Play fair for best results!

IN ADVANCE OF TOUR:

  1. It is a requirement that you maintain adequate liability insurance during the tour dates. Regular home insurance does NOT cover a tour through your studio! Companies like actinsurance.com provide temporary insurance. You must provide evidence of this insurance once you have been accepted on the tour.
  2. Update your CAA Member Gallery in a timely manner prior to the tour. For assistance, contact marketing@camanoarts.org. During the tour your gallery page may be subject to edits by the CAA marketing team including but not limited to photos and location information.
  3. Evaluate safety issues and attend to any potential hazards such as unprotected stairways, pathways, embankments, artworks that are not adequately supported, and materials or equipment that might pose a hazard to visitors.
  4. Notify neighbors who might be impacted by Studio Tour visitors and traffic of the dates/times of the Tour; address their concerns.
  5. It is a requirement that Studio Tour Artists and Galleries be responsible for keeping directional A-board signs in good condition and must:
  • Position them as suggested by the Signage Committee. The A-boards are DIRECTIONAL SIGNS meant to assist visitors along the entirety of the tour route, not just to one venue.
  • Remove them each night by 6pm in accordance with CAA’s agreements with city, county, and state authorities. (Inform the Tour Director of any unique needs for your signage.)
  • Store them out of the weather as designated by the Signage Committee.
  • Contact the Tour Director if you are unable to care for your signs.
  • Discuss any issues with the Tour Director before altering signs.
  • Any damage requiring repair or replacement will be charged to the Tour Artist/Gallery.
  • Removing numbers or changing arrows will be cause for an artist not to be allowed on the following year’s tour. Great care has been taken to place the numbers and arrows to optimize visitation to each and every tour venue.

DURING TOUR

  1. Studio Tour Artists’ or a representative will be present during all hours of the Studio Tour. Closing on the Encore Weekend is no longer an option.
  2. Studios are expected to maintain a “working studio” atmosphere. Avoid obvious displays, “Close Out”, “Price Reduction”, “Sale” signs or other such advertisements.
  3. All art for sale or on display during the Studio Tour must be the Artist’s original work. Quality reproductions (example: giclée) are acceptable.
  4. Studio Tour Studios will only display artwork created by Studio Tour Artists that have been jury-accepted and are officially participating at that Studio as publicized in the Studio Tour Brochure (maximum of 4 jury-accepted Artists per Studio).
  5. Studio Tour Studios and Galleries are not to provide food service other than free refreshments for visitors. Rather, encourage visitors to support local restaurants and businesses.
  6. Review vehicle access to venue, parking availability around it, providing assistance to visitors where necessary.
  7. Tour Artists and Galleries are expected to collect visitor surveys designed to request data for future mailings and targeted advertising, and grant applications. Surveys will be provided to each venue.

AFTER TOUR

DUE MAY 22, 2027

  • Drop off collected visitor surveys to location (TBD) specified by the Tour Director.
  • Your fully completed Artist/Gallery Evaluation with all required data including total sales and visitation; sales information is held in confidence between CAA’s President and Treasurer. Other data will be shared with CAA Marketing and the General Membership once stripped of any markers attributing the data to you.

DUE MAY 31, 2027

  • Mail or submit payment to CAA 5% of your total sales before Island County’s 8.8% sales tax. For example: if your sales were $3,750 in total before tax, $4,080 after tax. You’ll remit $187.50 (5%of $3,750) to CAA. Gallery venues: 5% is on 50% of total sales, regardless of the varying commission rates offered to gallery artists. For example: if total sales were $27,500, you’ll remit $687.50 (5% of $13,750) to CAA.

DUE JUNE 30, 2027

  • 20 Volunteer Hours must be posted to the CAA website under your name. Hours not worked will be invoiced to the Tour Artist or Gallery at $20 per hour. If left unpaid past August 1st, 2027, there is a $50 LATE FEE. Failure to pay by September 1, 2027, results in forfeiture of participation on the 2028 tour.

RECOMMENDATIONS

  1. Studio Venues with available space are encouraged to host New Tour Artists who do not have a CAA approved venue (up to 4 artists may be in one venue). There are always new Tour Artists who are encouraged to apply for the tour who may not be able to use their own studios.
  2. Artists and helpers are asked to wear name tags for easy identification by guests.
  3. Attend General Monthly Programs and/or Gateway Gallery receptions. While there, introduce yourself to other CAA members. Our community is as strong as you help to make it.
  4. Familiarize yourself with the tour map and other tour artists, venues, and galleries. The more we act in cooperation with each other, the more we are able to assist tour guests, the better our tour for all!
