2027 Volunteer Hour Guidelines
For a successful Tour, it takes over 1,000 hours of volunteer time in addition to the Studio Tour Director’s responsibilities. Planning for the May tour starts in August of the preceding year. You will receive ample notice of volunteer opportunities to sign up for in advance, and often there are volunteer requests in the Member Bulletin and on our Facebook CAA Member Forum.
REQUIREMENT
Each studio tour artist and gallery is required to volunteer 20 hours during the tour year: end of tour this year to start of tour next year. Volunteer time must be served on a defined CAA committee and be reported to the Studio Tour Director/Tour Steering Committee via the CAA Volunteer Accounting Form on the CAA website. If you have trouble locating this form, contact: marketing@camanoarts.org for assistance.
Hours worked for one tour year do not carry over into the next tour year. It’s okay to give more than you need to contractually! 20 is the minimum to make sure CAA Tour Artists stay engaged year-round with CAA’s Vision and Mission. Board Directors and Committee Leads aren’t paid- they take their roles to support you and all of CAA’s programming, not just the Studio Tour. Report all your hours, it is important info for grant applications. When reporting, please be specific about the category your hours fall under (Gallery, Tour, MAP , etc.).
You may have friends or family work volunteer hours on your behalf. The hours must be logged into the online form, under your name, with a note as to who worked the hours. Un-worked Volunteer Hours will be reimbursed to the Studio Tour budget at $20 per hour; see Terms and Conditions.
WHAT COUNTS
- Designated hours worked on behalf of the CAA Board of Directors, Board approved committees, programs, projects, events, and objectives.
- Specific, one-time tasks for a committee, such as hanging banners for the Signage Committee and proof reading for the Brochure or assisting with a Gallery Reception.
- Distribution of printed marketing materials for the tour to regions outside of the local zip codes – includes drive time.
- Taking shifts at the Gateway Gallery, where we promote CAA Members and Programs (Studio Tour, Mentorship, Scholarship) year round.
- Serving as a host studio to one or more guest artists for the tour (earns 20 hours).
- Attendance at a CAA Monthly Membership Program (maximum 1 hour).
- Presenting a program through the Program Committee in which case time spent preparing and presenting counts.
- Targeted posting on Social Media to promote the Tour or other CAA programs
- Hours spent assisting another Tour Artist or Gallery during a tour in which you are not participating (hours will be applied to the next year’s total).
- Entering surveys online after the tour.
WHAT DOES NOT COUNT
- Independent activities not associated with a CAA committee
- Hours spent on activities for other communities and/or art organizations.
Hardships and extenuating circumstances that make it impossible for a Studio Artist to comply with the volunteering requirement are to be submitted via email to studiotour@camanoarts.org
